Greenmount Cycling Academy

Welcome to the Greenmount Cycling Academy for 2025. This will be our 13th year of providing cycling coaching at Limerick Racecourse. The numbers attending the academy have grown every year and we have changed to accommodate the needs of our members.

In 2025 we ran our academy and inclusion club for approx 18 weeks, held 3 race days at the racecourse, hosted riders from all over the country, ran the Munster Criterium Championships in August, the National Cyclocross Championships in January and the Muster Cyclocross Championships in December. As well as running a Coast to coast fundraiser and the Kilteely GP in June.

Our youth training takes place each Wednesday, 18.30pm -19.30pm, starting on April 30th 2025 at Limerick Racecourse in Patrickswell. We will have inclusion activities from 6pm-6.30pm and adult training after 7.30pm. We intend to have training most Wednesdays until the end of August. Please keep an eye on Greenmount Cycling Academy on Facebook and our parents WhatsApp group for the latest news and to check if training is on each week. Usually it will be.

The Academy provides a training program for all youth members from age 6 up to 15 years old, boys and girls in a safe car free location. This training is primarily aimed at preparing youths for competitive road cycling and cyclocross for age categories, U10, U12, U14 and U16. Qualified coaches provide the skills and training advice necessary to take part in racing. The coaches will provide information to new members on bike setup, gearing, training etc. Helmets are compulsory for this training. All participants must pre-register, sign a code of behaviour and obey our coaches and stewards instructions. Please respect the racecourse property and keep off the racetrack grass. We will require parents or guardians contact details for email and updates. We intend to use WhatsApp for communication. We do not contact riders directly.

We welcome youths from all clubs to the academy. Cycling Ireland our national governing body recommends all youths join a club after their first 3 sessions with us. Greenmount Cycling Academy is a registered Cycling Ireland Club. You can join at https://membership.cyclingireland.ie/. A youth licence

(under 10) costs €10. In tandem with our academy our club will be running youth races on 3 race days. You must have a Cycling Ireland licence to take part in these races and entry is online. Our club membership is

€25 for the year. This can be paid when you are taking out your CyclingIreland licence.
