Club Highlight: FVC – A Dutch Women’s Cycling Network
Earlier, we wrote about the growing popularity of women’s cycling networks across The Netherlands. Today, we will highlight one of these dutch women’s cycling communities: De Fietsvrouwen Club (FVC).
As popularity of cycling among women continues to grow, more and more women’s cycling clubs gain traction. One of those growing networks on Cyql is FVC. Based in Nijverdal and Amersfoort, this women-only club wants to create ride spots in every region of the Netherlands.

A network with more than just rides
FVC was started to do things differently. The club welcomes women aged 25 to 70 who love road, gravel, or mountain biking. It’s not just about riding your bike. It’s about having fun, feeling welcome, and being part of a community.
“We wanted to set up something different from a standard cycling club,” the team shared. “We’re really making it a complete package.”
Growing their network across The Netherlands
The goal is simple: De Fietsvrouwen Club wants a cycling group in every Dutch region. The team is growing fast and using Cyql to organize rides and keep everything running smoothly.
They’ve also launched new exciting initiatives like FVC Social Rides and fun intro sessions for new members. And in December, they’ll host an oliebollen clubrit with traditional Dutch treats.
The broader movement of women's cycling
Women’s cycling is growing fast. The Royal Dutch Cycling Union (KNWU) estimates that around 360,000 women in the Netherlands ride for sport or fun. During the pandemic, women around the world started cycling more, and the trend is still going strong. This shift is happening internationally too. Women-only cycling clubs pop-up on basically every continent: from the US to Singapore and from the UK to Australia. More women are joining cycling clubs and hitting the roads together.
The Netherlands already has one of the most balanced cycling scenes in the world, with women making more than half of all cycling trips. With so many good bike paths and safe roads, it’s the perfect place for women’s cycling groups to grow.
What’s next for FVC
FVC is growing step by step. More members, more local groups, and more places to ride together. The dream is clear: women cycling together across the whole country. We, as Cyql, are proud to support this mission and provide them with the tools and technology to organize efficiently and boost engagement within the community.
Note that the club is always open to new members. Regardless of age and experience, women are welcome to join. If you are interested and want to know more, please visit the Fietsvrouwen website and contact them directly from there.
How Cyql can improve your club experience too
FVC uses Cyql to coordinate rides across their growing network of branches, track who’s joining each ride, and keep all their members connected in one place. They rely on the digital ecosystem for activities ranging from social rides to their yearly oliebollen clubrit.
