Club Spotlight: ANWB Cycling Club

Every now and then, we put one of our clubs in the spotlight. This time, we spoke with the ANWB Cycling Club. It is a company cycling club that brings colleagues together on two wheels, all across the Netherlands.

About the ANWB Cycling Club

The ANWB Cycling Club has around 100 members. On an average ride, about 15 of them show up. The club has mountain bikers, road cyclists and gravel riders. Throughout the year, the club organizes about 4 rides and a workshop, including an MTB clinic and a road captain course for road cyclists. Because ANWB has offices across the country, the club rides all over the Netherlands too.

Company Cycling Club vs. Regular Cycling Club: What's Different

A company cycling club is not quite like a regular cycling club and that is exactly the point. Riding with colleagues from different departments means getting to know both the people and the organization in a different way. The club also organizes rides nationwide, simply because its members are spread out across the country.

The rhythm is different too. Instead of a weekly ride, the club organizes social rides about 4 times a year, keeping things low-key but consistent.

Benefits of a Company Cycling Club for Employees

Cycling together brings a few extra benefits along the way. Members wear ANWB cycling gear, which helps create a shared identity and connection. Getting to know colleagues from other departments also lowers the barrier to reach out to each other for work later on. And of course, it is good for everyone’s wellbeing to get outside and move.

With only 4 or 5 rides a year, the club is modest about how big a role it plays in company culture, but the value is there.

How the ANWB Cycling Club Found Cyql

The club first heard about Cyql through one of its own members, who was already using the app and recommended it to the rest of the group. Today, 63 members of the ANWB Cycling Club use Cyql to stay connected to the club’s rides.

Why the ANWB Cycling Club Uses Cyql Cycling Club Management Software

For the club, the biggest win is how easily ride information gets shared with members, combined with a simple sign-up process. It takes a lot of work off from the organizers’ hands so if I had to recommend Cyql to someone new I would say that:

“It works really well. You can share information in a very clear way and people can sign up easily. It saves a lot of admin work and keeping track of lists.”

Is Cyql Right for Your Company Too?

The ANWB Cycling Club shows how a company cycling club, spread across an entire country and riding just a few times a year can still run smoothly with the right tools in place.

Curious if Cyql could do the same for your company? Get in touch with us to find out.

Your club deserves better tools

Managing a cycling club shouldn’t mean spending hours on admin when you’d rather be out riding. Volunteers shouldn’t burn out because basic processes are unnecessarily complicated. Members shouldn’t miss rides because information gets lost in group chats.

Cyql Pro solves these problems — and now you can experience that change without any financial commitment.
